So far, i am very happy with how my triathlon training is going. i ran at the gym today, on the elliptical, and my leg hardly bothered me at all: it was just a little stiff but not painful. i ran five minutes longer than today's workout called for and swam. Last year, at this point in my training, i was not actually following the full workout, or if i was i felt i was doing very poorly (exhausted and slow). Right now my pace is better than i would have hoped, and the workouts are providing just a little bit of a challenge (granted, i haven't been doing the workouts every day, but then i have been in recovery and biking all over campus in addition). So assuming that my pace and strength continues to improve i think that i have the potential to do a lot better in my next triathlon.
Tomorrow i bike 6 miles and i fully anticipate that i will do much better than my last 5 mile ride simply because i have been riding around campus and am already feeling much more comfortable on my bike again. This week i started dismounting while coasting without even thinking about it, while last week i was more tentative, and would wait to come to a full stop (i was still in a bit of pain of course). Training also makes me feel more optimistic and less stress (haven't been knitting enough to help with that lately, i'm afraid). The only downside is that, once again, i am hungry all the time. i'm trying to cut back on fast food and get back into a healthy diet, which is hard because fast food is there and ready and healthy food takes preparation. i'm serious, i just ate about an hour ago, and i'm already starving. Time to pull out some more veggies... i'll probably finish them while watching Lost.

wha???
Rice Crispies and Special K have High Fructose Corn Syrup in them. /confused
i dyed my hair last night, trying to go back to my natural color as close as possible. i'm going to try not dying it any more (i don't even want to know how many toxic chemicals are in those dyes); let's see how long that lasts. lol
i'm also thinking about cutting my hair again... idk if i'm going to bob it or try to keep the length.
School tomorrow (along with the inauguration ): ), LOST WEDNESDAY!

Trying to Avoid HFCS and MSG
i admit it, i have had about six cans of Coca-Cola and one 20oz bottle of Dr. Pepper since the New Year. Mom bought more, i had some, and yesterday i had a huge headache and really wanted caffeine, let's just leave it at that. i've been wondering where else i could get caffeine, cuz sometimes it helps my headaches... do i even want to look up the ingredients that are in a Starbucks Java Chip Frapp?
So last week i went out and bought some Lean Cuisine frozen meals to zap in the microwave at work (instead of eating junk / fast food during my lunch). i'm not a fan of frozen dinners, let alone "diet" ones, but i like Stouffers so i thought i'd give them a try. So on Monday i ate Lean Cuisine BBQ Chicken Pizza for the first time... and i wasn't impressed. The crust and chicken were overdone and tough while the onion were still cold even though they were cut uber small. The sauce tasted completely wrong, too, it was way too sweet. i had better luck Tuesday with the Teriyaki Steak bowl. The sauce was a bit off, but not as disturbing as the bbq: other than that it was pretty good. The pro to these meals is they're super easy (grab a box out of the freezer and head out), have healthier ingredients as far as i can tell, and fill me up while coming it at fewer than 400 calories.
This morning i enjoyed eating the cereal that my mom had bought (i didn't even have to look at the label to know it fulfilled my NYR requirements!). i mixed an organic off-brand cheerio with Peanut Butter Bumpers (something which i usually don't eat, i'm not really into peanut butter that much and it's too strong of a taste alone, but it goes well with the cheerios as it turns out). Their primary sweeteners? "Evaporated Cane Sugar" and "Desulphurated Molasses" respectively (whatever that means!). Anyways, it sounds healthier than High Fructose Mutated Corn (and let's be honest, who really wants sulfur in their cereal to begin with?)!
After work, i had some books to drop off at the library, and got a hankering for Chinese food (the dollar scoop place is on the way). Three scoops for $4.05, always a deal. i've been sooo hungry lately, it must be in reaction to the few days that i was sick in which i didn't feel like eating most of the time. i feel like a Coke, but i didn't give in! i can't remember if the dollar scoop place is MSG free or not, i know the one at the mall is (but they cost a lot more than a buck twenty-five!). idk, too tired to think any more about a post that it took me several days to compile. i meant to write more, take photos in a very Jorge Garcia fashion, but what can i say??? Opening a box of Lean Cuisine while surrounded by three other employees who are also eating their lunches doesn't make me feel like whipping out my cell phone and taking a shot. Really, it doesn't.

leap year day
Today i am procrastinating. i know i shouldn't be, but i can't stop myself. i woke up around eight, which is just about right, as i finally got my sleep schedule regulated after weeks of insomnia. It's the day after Chubuncle's birthday, and it made me think of Chubaunt, because she's due in a week and a half but Chubuncle and his father were both born on February 28 on a leap year and wouldn't it be crazy if his baby was too? So i read Chubaunt's blog, which always makes me laugh and feel happy, and then went on to read I Remember..., which i haven't enjoyed in a very long time. i've read posts dated a year ago and still haven't gotten back to what i had read. What she writes is so engrossing that i don't want to stop reading it, to have lived such a full life that was full of life, and to still be living it, it blows me away. (Both of these blogs are linked to on the right.)
Lately i have been feeling a very strong sense of me, of peace that i am where i am supposed to be, and the sensation that something important is about to happen. You see, today i should be finding a procter for my upcoming English midterm, and doing the homework for State Government and Technical Writing that is due today (that i should have already done, truth be told, and then would not be so hard pressed to do it now), but i don't feel like doing those things. i feel like reading, and writing, and listening to music, and dancing, and being. i feel like continuing to be myself, a self that is more in touch with herself and who she is than she has ever been before. And yet i lack direction, i feel like i'm standing on the edge of the cliff but i don't know which direction to dive, and i have many different directions to choose from.
i have turned my back on film school now... should i stay at Mesa State or go to another college? Should i finish college at all or find a way to support myself now? If i am going to finally start my career, how will i support myself? My thoughts turn to freelance writing, but while i am at school i do not have the time for it. Could i support myself with my writing? Would it be important for me to get my degree? i want to fly now, why do i always have to wait??? i am so sick of waiting, and sacrificing, and denying myself. Can't i serve others by being myself? Is there no way for me to be happy and whole while also being able to support myself and contributing to society?
Why am i always at a crossroads no matter what choices i make? i strive so hard, and yet i never get anywhere. All the choices before me are always forward, never back, but they never get me to where i am going. i don't feel depressed in this space, just dissatisfied with the options that are before me, which are so few. i feel as if there is something that i'm missing, that i should have seen already, but i don't see it. At church on Sunday (the second church we went to... which is a story in itself) was the first time that i heard a pastor confirm in a sermon that sometimes the hard places, the darkness, the lows, are exactly where God wants us to be, are His perfect will. He talked about what i have been dealing with for eight years, the fact that the plan God has for us isn't always easy.
Last night i watched Lost and it was a Desmond flashback to when he was at boot camp. His mind was flashing back and forth between the two times, and if he could not find anything to anchor himself to the future then he would die. He had to find Penny in the past to get her phone number so he could call her on Christmas Eve eight years later. It struck me that eight years is such a long time to be separated from the one that you love. It made me think about what anchors me to the future, i have no person that i can see face to face, that i can talk to on the phone, or hold their hand and kiss them on the face. i have God. He is so silent, and yet i hear Him. i cannot hear Him, but i feel so often that i just know what He wants and is thinking even though i can't hear it and it is so beyond my comprehension. i wish i could see it in a dream or vision, but it is not as easy as that, i have to just take it on faith. i struggle to put this in words, but i cannot, and it is time for me to go. i have so much to say and yet no words to say it with. So i stand here on the edge and wonder: which way do i leap?

Lost Pilot and season finale
Unfortunately, due to human error, we didn't get to see Lost's season finale (the truth is that the VCR was set for the right time but the wrong channel). It repeated during the campout, so Megan saw it because she stayed home, but she didn't record it. But what she did see is interesting. The Pilot is on right now (as i type) and i just realized that when we hear "the Monster" for the first time... it sounds an awful lot like a machine. And when i mentioned that Megan said that made sense: the closed captioning during the finale said "gears clicking" and that there were chains involved. It just seems really weird but it kind of makes sense. The thing is, is it cloaked or what? Seems pretty strange and inexplicable. Of course, that's what Abrams has been going for...

my absence ~ NSU post #24
I didn't mean to take a break from blogging but i guess i ended up doing so. I've been really busy getting ready for finals. I guess i felt that the free time i had should be spent doing something besides ranting. (; Maybe during the Christmas break i'll have time to write more.
It is such a relief to me that Kerry didn't get elected as President of the United States of America. I think that the biggest reason i haven't mentioned the election results is because i got so burnt out on the political stuff. I got tired of the mud slinging and lies and really don't want to bequeath Kerry with much attention now that he lost. I'm recharging for my next campaign on this blog, too.
Below is one of the papers i wrote for my Mass Media class. We had to write a movie critique over Thanksgiving break. It was the first movie i had been to (in the theater) since the Village and Bourne Supremacy and i think it's about time for another review so "there you go" (to quote a spelling guru who was in a computer game my sis and i used to play). I have meant to review more films but as i said, i always feel pressed for time and as such forget it for more "important" things (that are very pressing in RL). Hopefully i'll do better next year.
Btw, Alias is returning with a two-hour event in January but will now be on Wednesdays. I am so relieved that Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) didn't die last night on Lost. I'm looking forward to the repeat of the pilot next Wednesday as i didn't see it due to VCR misprogramming (it was brand new and i hadn't read the manual! How was i to know that i had to push the T-Set button?).
Guess that's about it for now. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (just in case i don't have a chance to say it later)!

RePlay Alias moves ~ NSU post #11
I've decided that i don't really need an entire blog dedicated to Alias. I never really said much of anything on the blog anyway, so i've deleted it. If i feel the need to review an episode i will review it here (whenever the show starts up again).
In other news, i finally caught an ep of Lost (the third). I'm not sure if i'll become a fan or not, though it's nice to see Dominic Monaghan with his real hair (facial hair especially).
